How much cash should I bring?

Once your visa has been granted you are advised to contact your bank and seek clarification from them about obtaining UK pounds. You should have enough money to pay for your transport from the airport to your final destination. You may be staying with friends, family or with a host family at first so will not have to think about accommodation costs as you will have already paid them. If not, then you should have at least enough money for one or two nights stay at a 'Bed and Breakfast' and for food during this time. If you can, bring most of this money as travellers' cheques and take out travel insurance to cover you for your first week of stay. Our recommendation is that you must make sure that you have arranged for accommodation before you leave your home country. Going to a new country can itself be a very challenging if not a daunting experience. Landing after a long flight of expectations and apprehensions, jet lagged and chasing your way through immigration counters and connecting flights, you will surely be comfortable if you have a place secured to live where you could relax and unwind yourself to face a fresh new start in a new country. It is therefore strongly advisable to secure accommodation, permanent or temporary, before leaving for UK.
